    Hey Ray, interesting articles on the HOF selections and misses. I’ve thought Dawson’s selection was righteous, but I also agree completely that they’ve dropped the ball on Robbie Alomar. It’s difficult to decipher the criteria that the writers use in making their selections … itself a fairly pompous and odd circumstance … but I would hope that the defensive part of a player’s game is taken into serious consideration. Runs created and runs prevented both figure into the equation when tallying up team wins. I’ve seen the Hawk gun down innumerable base runners at Wrigley (from the hellhole that is right field in that park), and no one would deny that Robbie was one of the best gloves at 2nd base who ever played the game. Both of those guys deserve enshrinement in the HOF for the totality of their contributions, in my opinion.
