    Hey Ray,

My team is in the middle of the pack for a 11 team 5×5 roto league. I’m last in RBI’s and can pick up freese and/or Derek Lee. Any suggestions on which one to add or grab them both?

  2. By Ray Flowers on Aug 4, 2011

SF – Freese and Lee would both be nice adds for someone in need of RBI production.

The last three weeks Lee has 16 RBI, though he’s on the Pirates now which might mitigate his RBI production slightly.

Freese has 11 RBI the last two weeks AND hits behind Berkman, Pujols and Holliday. Seems like he is in a great spot to rack up the RBI, and Freese is also a better bet in the average category.

    Thanks Ray! Done.

I am in a 12 team keeper league that protects 14 players so there isn’t much of a chance to get stars on draft day. I am currently 6th in my league and have an outside chance at finishing in the money (top 3) but it is an outside chance.

My pitching is strong but offense is weak particularily in the OF and 3B. I have been offered Adam Jones, ARod and Anthony Rizzo. I would be giving up Brett Lawrie, Justin Masterson and Lance Berkman.

    Thoughts?

    Thank you
    Pat

Pat – arod is still a strong performer, but in a keeper league his value is on the wane. Adam Jones may never get better than this year, but that’s still pretty good. Rizzo has a bright future, but Petco is a harm as is the fact that he plays 1B — it’s just so deep.

Lawrie, I’d rather have than Rizzo because of position.
Masterson is solid, but what we are seeing now is top end.
Berkman is aging and not likely to repeat this effort moving forward.

Take the deal and get Arod, Rizzo, Jones.

    Thanks Ray. Very helpful.

    Say it ain’t so.
I’m in the central time zone and the best part of my commute is The Fantasy Drive. Why are they moving you to a later time slot?
Thanks for all of your help.

Steve – Yeah, show being changed wasn’t our idea of course. The decision was made to get all football shows in at certain times, so we’ll just have to move around.
Here is the schedule starting next week.

    Mon-Weds – 7-10 PM EDT
    Friday – 9-12 PM EDT
    Sunday – 8-11 PM EDT

I want to second Steve’s sentiment. I’ve gotten many queations answered here, and also listen to u guys on my 45 minute commute home here in CT. Love the show. I do both fantasy football and baseball, and it amazes me on the radio now that its as if baseball doesn’t even exist anymore, even though we have 2 months left in the season and football training camps have barely even opened. Think it sucks, as does u guys getting moved back. Please keep up the great work though!

also, a baseball question: In my 6×6 h2h league, someone just cut Dunn. I need to replace travis snyder who was on my bench, and want an infielder to back up Freddie Freeman who’s in my IF position.

My Q: for ROTW: Dunn or Lawrie? also in general, is it worth rostering Dunn at this point? Thanks!

  11. By Ray Flowers on Aug 5, 2011

Joel – Yep, football rules the world unfortunately. Just the way it is in this business.

As to your question, as bad as Dunn has been all year, I think you simply have to go with Lawrie if that is the choice. Dunn is only worth rostering if you have an open spot on your roster that you don’t have a need for.
