Ray- Things were looking good for my team until today. Holliday out Morse hit by pitch on the arm came out of the game and Bourgeois realized he’s Bourgeois. I need help quick in the short term. I have Gaby as a replacement for Morse but need some steals that Bourgeois is not providing. I think I know what you’ll say but would you give the thumbs up on Venable?

Hey Ray,
My team has been fading in saves. I’m currently playing Soria and Chris Preze, do you think i can roll with them the rest of the way or should i look to add Guerra, Isringhausen or Melancon?
I do feel saves are a random event and it’s hard to judge but wanted to get your take.

Chad – Venable is a passable option off of waivers if he is available. As you saw in the video, he’s also hitting well at the dish right now, so he’s a solid add if you need a boost.

SF – Izzy and Melancon aren’t great bets. Izzy is ancient and injury prone, and the Astros never win games to given MM a chance to pick up a save. If you are needing help though add Guerra who has looked good for the Dodgers. I wouldn’t add him over your other two options though. Can you just add a third? If you feel like you have to make a move, dump Perez. His K/BB has been an issue all year, and I’ve been warning people about it – well – all year.

I know what your mid-season ROTW rankings show, but can I get a boost at catcher by dropping icy cold Wieters for Pierzynski, Martin, Salty, Ianetta or Torrealba? Their numbers look better than Wieters over the last 15 days, but should I ride out Wieters cold streak?

Ray: In my 6×6 H2H league, I have Beltran in RF, Ludwick on the bench with RF elig, and just got Choo back off DL. I have Freddie Freeman and Lawrie for my IF position.
Q: I can trade Lawrie and Choo for Youk. Should I do it, or is that too much? THANKS!!

JB – I wouldn’t ever drop a guy over two cold weeks. If you would, that means you were never sold on him to start with. at this point of the year though, if you want to play the hot hand, you can, just know there is downside to moving around trying to play the hot hand. Martin is solid to add.

Joel – You can do this deal. I have no idea what to expect from Choo, no one does. So dealing and injured OF, a guy with a couple of weeks in the bigs (Lawrie) for a guy who quals at two spots and hits in the best lineup in baseball (Youkilis). I say do it. Especially since you can turn to Freeman to help out.
