I need a backup MI. Do you prefer Jed Lowrie, Allen Craig or Omar Infante?
By Ray Flowers on Aug 20, 2011
Nick – My choice would be Craig. He isn’t likely to keep up his .323 mark, but he has been pretty impressive. Infante was white hot before the injury to his finger, .411 in 20 games, but there is no telling how he will pick up. Lowrie? Over his last 44 games he has one homer and is hitting .221. No thanks.

Ray, who gets the saves in SF? Ramirez or Affeld?
By Ray Flowers on Aug 21, 2011
Ryan – SF pen, with Wilson on DL, is a disaster in terms of choosing one name. It would be Romo if he was healthy, but alas he’s not. Affeldt will likely be the arm that the team will lean on most, but it’s a committee right now with Ramirez, Casilla and Lopez also in the mix.

Ray: if you had to pick one of these guys for next week and rotw, Casper Wells or Kyle Blanks? THANKS!
By Ray Flowers on Aug 21, 2011
Joel – I’d go Wells over Blanks. Neither guy has a great offense, or a park that helps hitting, so they’re pretty equal there. Both have been hot = pretty equal there. So why would I go with Wells? He’s a slightly better hitter. Blanks has massive power upside, could be a 30 HR bat, but he also has a poor approach at the plate that leads to a ton of Ks. I’d go with Wells who is a more stable choice with the lumber.

Ray,
Do you prefer a one start Brett Cecil or a two start Mike Minor this week?
Head to head format.
Thanks.
By Ray Flowers on Aug 21, 2011
Nick – Minor is kind of all over the place. He has walked only five batters in his last four starts while racking up 28 Ks in 24.1 innings. He’s pitching very well.
Cecil has gone at least 6 innings each of his last 10 outings. Over his last six outings, five quality starts.
I’d prefer Cecil, but if you are in a h2h format like you stated it’s tough to turn away from Minor against the cubs and mets.

Ray: I hate to bug with with another Q tonite, but here’s another waiver Q for tomorrow morning: for next week and ROTW, in h2h, Hughes or harden? THANKS!
By Sanibel on Aug 21, 2011
Ray, for some who aren’t men ~ you might have to throw in a photo or two of studs. Isn’t it a bit presumptuous that fantasy baseball players are all men?
Side note: I wish I had the time to play though. Good luck!
By Ray Flowers on Aug 21, 2011
Joel = Harden. Always huge risk with his health, but he dominated in his last outing. Also, appears possible that he could get dealt which would increase his win potential. He’s go better skills than Hughes, so I’d take Harden.

Sanibel – Great point about no men in tights since I do post women in bikini’s. Good call.
I’m so about me and what I want to see.

I have had Ethier all season long in an outfield spot. He had that outstanding first month of the season, and then pretty disappointing the rest of the way. He has been especially awful in the last month. I am considering adding the recently returned Jose Tabata to take his place, but I am always afraid that Ethier might go on another tear as soon as I drop him. Do you think I should ride it out with Ethier the rest of the way or consider making the change?
By Nick on Aug 21, 2011
Could you rank these pitchers for the rest of the season?
Garza, Niemann, Luebke, Kuroda, Minor
Thanks
By Ray Flowers on Aug 22, 2011
Jon – Ethier has been a mess after his blazing start, so I totally understand your frustration. My concern here is that Tabata isn’t a certainty at this point. He’s been hurt all year, he has little power, and his average has lagged all year. He is hitting .350 since he returned, but it’s 20 at-bats. If you need speed you can add him and hope, dont forget that he is coming back off a leg injury and has just two steals in 28 games.
By Ray Flowers on Aug 22, 2011
Nick – Minor could lose his spot in the rotation – could. Luebke could have an IP limit. Niemann simply isn’t as good as he has locked, which has been amazing.
Kuroda, Garza, Luebke, Niemann, Minor
