Ey Ray – happy Saturday night! Aybar or N. walker at MI in 10-tm? We count OPS and AVG. I dig aybar’s speed but walker coming around. Thanks!

Ray
A team needs a closer in my league. Would you give up Pence and any closer for Hamilton??
By Ray Flowers on Apr 28, 2012
Greg – Diff players. Aybar more about speed, Walker run production. I’d side with Walker, but it’s a big time toss up to be honest.
By Mark on Apr 28, 2012
Ray,
5×5 12 team mixed. I need to add some power to my lineup. Would you trade Reyes and LaHair for Hanley Ramirez? There are several other options I can pick up to replace LaHair…Francouer, Trout, Chris Davis.
By Greg on Apr 28, 2012
Following on the Hamilton theme – i’ve been offered Verlander straight up for my Hamilton. I’ve also been offered Verlander/Bourn for my Hamilton/J Garcia. Should I take either of these in a 10-teamer with AVG, OPS, QS, W, K/9? I’ve a deep OF (Cargo, Hamilton, Holliday, Victorino, Prado) and my SP is a little suspect at the top (JJ, Wainwright, Beachy, Scherzer, Luebke, J Garcia, Bedard). Thoughts?
By Burley on Apr 28, 2012
Ray, what do you think about this trade:
King Felix & McCarthy for Bumgarner & Minor
By Jarrod on Apr 28, 2012
During their prime… McCutchen or Trout?
By Toney on Apr 28, 2012
What is the value of Yonies in a keeper league with OBP and total bases. Are you a believer or is he always going to be a batting average drag?
By Ray Flowers on Apr 29, 2012
Mark – Reyes for HanRam is a fair deal. You shouldn’t have to add in LaHair, but if so, so be it.
Do the deal. I’d add Trout who, if he starts out hot, will bring a ton on the trade market.
By Ray Flowers on Apr 29, 2012
Greg – Given your SPs, and that it’s a 10 teamer, I think you do the deal. I’m a huge fan of Bourn, and he brings a speed element that you may or may not need, but he is a terrible option in OPS lg. Still, I’d do the 2for2 deal if you need SBs. If not, just do the one to get Verlander.
By Ray Flowers on Apr 29, 2012
Burley – The best arm is Felix, but MadBum not far behind. McCarthy is a nice arm, though injuries always a concern, so Minor slightly better.
Fair deal.
By Ray Flowers on Apr 29, 2012
Jarrod – McCutchen is what Trout hopes he will one day be. Not all prospects reach their ceiling. Trout also may never been a consistent 25-30 HR guy, so I’m going McC.
By jon on Apr 29, 2012
You’ve got Scherzer riding the pine today in all but deep leagues, right? 12-team it just ain’t worth the risk at NYY and against Sabathia, right?
By Ray Flowers on Apr 29, 2012
Toney – Cespedes will be more Jayson Werth than Carlos Gonzalez. He’s likely to always be a moderate option in AVG, he just doesn’t profile as a .290+ type of hitter. He’s also likely to K a lot, for a long time, so his OBP isn’t ever going to be a big number.
By Ray Flowers on Apr 29, 2012
Jon – If you’re unsure about whether or not to start a guy, then I say sit him. With uneven work, and a terrible matchup today, sitting Scherzer for the one start ain’t a bad idea at all.
By Ronnie on Apr 29, 2012
Adam Jones or Andrew McCutchen?
By Thomas on Apr 29, 2012
Cueto or Lewis?
By Ray Flowers on Apr 29, 2012
Thomas – I’d favor Lewis ever so slightly cause I think he could have a pretty substantial lead in the K department with these two righties.
By Ray Flowers on Apr 29, 2012
Ronnie – I’m a big believer in Adam Jones, had him in my top-16 OFs this year, but it’s still gotta be McCutchen if it’s an either/or.
By jon on Apr 29, 2012
Raymond – Happy Sunday night, brother. Presley or Parra as a 5th OF in an AVG/OPS lg? (I know neither great. Who ya got?)
By Ray Flowers on Apr 29, 2012
Jon – Go with Parra. He’s stealing bags, and that separates him from Presley for now.
By Trophyhunter on Apr 29, 2012
Just accepted a trade, my team gets Albert Pujols, there team gets Mike Cuddyer and Ted Lilly. My team is overloaded with great pitching
anyway. What is your opinion? I like the payoff
possibility! Thanks, T.H.
By Ray Flowers on Apr 30, 2012
TrophyHunter – Cuddyer is solid as an OF, dynamite as a second sacker. If you dealt him and Lilly you gave up two solid pieces for sure. At the end of the day though, the elite option is Pujols so I have no issue with this deal.
By Nathan on Apr 30, 2012
Hey Ray,
Parra, Nieuwenhuis, Fowler, or Campana: Are any of them better options than Delmon Young at this point? I need steals. Thanks, Nathan
By Bobby on Apr 30, 2012
Hello Ray.
10 team league(dont laugh)
Josh Johnson is my 4th S.P I was going to offer him for Adam Jones thoughts?
MY O.F now is ELLSBURY,Swisher,Gardner,Reimhold, Duda,Francouer. we start 3 and between injuries and slumps im getting only Swisher who is producing.
THANK YOU
Bobby

Ray,
Sit Nocasio with 2 starts at home this week? Could start Tim Hudson but more likely to sit him (also in Colorado) and just go with Cashner (who has 6 games at home in SD) over both. Agree?
By Ray Flowers on Apr 30, 2012
Nathan – I’m still a fan of Fowler.
By Ray Flowers on Apr 30, 2012
Bobby – If you can get Adam Jones for JJohnson, I’d do it. Don’t think it has much chance of being accepted with the way the two are playing right now.
By Ray Flowers on Apr 30, 2012
Fish – No problem with your line of thought.

Ray
I have a pitching question. I have Lester,Strasburg,Gio,Holland,M Bumm,Morrow,McCarthy,Voglesong,Milone are my starters. Have Jansen,Thorton,Aceves,Robertson are my relieve pit. Play H2H with standard 5 categories. Is it a good Idea to drop one of these pitchers and pick up Scherzer?
Love the show and all your great advice.

By Mike on Apr 30, 2012
Ray- Bass or Volquez? This would be my 5th starter.
By Ray Flowers on Apr 30, 2012
Brian – I’d certainly add Scherzer, great buy low guy in my mind. I’d add him over Vogelsong or Milone and not worry about it. However, since both those guys are doing so well, what about packaging the duo for a better arm? If that doesn’t work, I’d move on from Aceves. If you want to keep the save, then boot Robertson who is a great arm but not of huge value in a h2h lg that doesn’t count holds.
By Ray Flowers on Apr 30, 2012
Mike – Volquez over Bass. Edinson has the bigger arm, and if he can every cut down the walks…
By Joe M on Apr 30, 2012
Hey Ray
Really want to unload Encarnacion while he’s this hot. What tier pitcher should I realistically go after?
Can you just throw 2-3 names out of the tier I should be looking at?
To add:
Seems like im targeting the following for Edwin..
Sale
Lynn
Tim Hudson
(Possibly Beckett)
Should I stay away from any of those?
Thanks
Joe

Joe M – Can’t answer. I have no idea how people evaluate players. Based on the arguments I get from people every day, it’s clear there is no consensus.
If you could move EE, here is the order I would target: Beckett, Hudson, Sale.
By Ray Flowers on May 1, 2012
Bobby – Given that your 3 OFs, two of which are hurt, I think you have to do a CC for Granderson deal.
By Joe M on May 1, 2012
“If you could move EE, here is the order I would target: Beckett, Hudson, Sale.”
Well, things just changed. Longoria getting hurt may have helped me a lot. Waiting to see what he’s willing to give up. He’s pitching heavy.
He has Beckett, but he also has Cain which i’m trying to get from him, maybe a 2 for 1, like Edwin and De Aza for Cain, hope he bites.
