The Fantasy Beat: Help Me Help You
May 26th, 2012 | by Ray Flowers |Justin Fensterman and Trevor Ray discuss a big trade that Justin just accepted and breakdown the strategy behind it. The guys will also tackle what Bryan LaHair owners should try to do with a guy so hot but not respected.

Ray, In a 12 team 5 x 5 roto, non-keeper, I traded Ad Jones, EE, and Worley for Verlander and B Garner-needed SP and speed, doing well in slugging cats. Did I pay too much, or sell high on the two hitters and hurt SP?
Thanks

Ray – howdy from RP wasteland. I’ve got 3 RPs set in Kimbrel, Clippard and Fuentes, then 2 more spots to work with. Right now I have Bell & Cishek rostered, but I’m mighty tempted to kick the MIA bullpen to the curb entirely and pickup Janssen and Wilhelmsen. It’s 10-team so I’ve been employing the FA wire as a sort of extended bench with my lower tier players. Do I go with a monopoly on Saves in MIA and keep what I have? Or pickup the the two guys who, despite being temporary, should at least get chances? If I only could keep the two best arms (Cishek & Janssen) but that would likely leave me holding the bag in a month or so. cheers!

Pat – I think you paid too much. Gardner is no lock to return at any point soon, and there is even a report today that suggests he could still miss some significant time:

Jon – Janssen will lose the CL role as soon as Santos is healthy. Wilhelmsen not even a lock to hold the closers role for a week either. I’d hold the Marlins duo until some clarity shows up.

Ray – in a 5×5 roto who do you like more overall ROS? LaHair, Goldschmidt or Alexi Ramirez?
By Ray Flowers on May 28, 2012
Mark – ROTW, I’d say this group is a whole lot of trouble. LaHair is in a predictable tailspin. Goldschmidt has shown some flashes of late, but still not very exciting. I’d go with Alexi Ramirez. Not only does he have the track record advantage over the two first basemen, but he also plays SS which gives his some potentially nice positional value.
