Hey Ray!
(facepalm) I am in a 7×7 roto keeper league with the additional categories being H and OPS in hitting and Holds and K/BB in pitching.
Tim Lincecum … What are your thoughts on him? Drop or Bench? No ones wants to trade for him in my league.
By Ming on Jul 11, 2012
Ray:
As always thanks for the advice. Cant wait for the football rankings. Have a trade offer on the table in a 6×6 mixed league roto. (obp and k/9 extra 2 categories) I have a deep starting pitching staff. (Verlander, CJ Wilson, Halladay, Nova, Matt Moore, Billingsley, Gavin floyd, Phil Hughes, Anibal Sanchez) and I just lost Stanton for the forseeable future. Stanton was in my DH slot.
I was offered Texeira, Tim Hudson and Jarrod Parker for Verlander and CJ. What do you think?

Hey Ray: Quick one. 10-team 6×6 roto w/ OPS + AVG.
Alexei or Kelly Johnson at MI ROTW? R. Weeks is on the wire too but I just don’t trust him given the K rate. You’ve got Alexei and KJ similarly ranked – do you expect them to be themselves? If so, it would seem Alexei has more room to get back to normal. Thoughts?
Thanks!

Ming – I was offered Texeira, Tim Hudson and Jarrod Parker for Verlander and CJ.
Verlander is the best player. Dealing him hurts. Would I take Teixeira and Hudson for him? Sure.
There’s no way though I’d take Parker for Wilson.
I’d keep working – you’re giving up too much.
By Ming on Jul 11, 2012
Thanks Ray. I was pretty much in line with that thinking also. But your confirmation makes it official!
By Ray Flowers on Jul 11, 2012
Greg – I’ve also got Weeks similarly ranked too.
Might want to check out this piece where I talk about Ramirez: http://fantasyalarm.com/rounding-the-bases-sample-size-and-what-it-means/
I’d put all three guys on same tier. If you want to avoid Weeks, no issue. I’d probably go Alexei, but it’s a real toss up.

Ray,
Offered Tex\Pence\Marcum for my Cargo\Lohse\CCrawford.
I figure Crawford is not worth the trouble, so Im swapping DL players in getting Marcum to help appease the loss of Lohse.
Thoughts?
By Luke on Jul 11, 2012
Okie, I’ve got some 3rd base issues going on. A few days back I asked your opinion on acquiring a top tier option but those talks have apparently fallen into the toilet. I currently have Mike Aviles in my 3rd base spot. Someone just cut Michael Young. Should I take a shot on him? Headley, P. Alvarez, C. Davis, and D. Murphy are also available. So whatchu think, take a gamble on one of these guys or keep rolling with Aviles?

Ray, Thanks for all of your advice this season. It’s almost like having a partner to bounce ideas off of to make sure they are going to improve the team. During the past week, I’ve picked up M. Cabrera, P. Fielder, Konerko, J. Shields. I gave up some pieces that hurt, specifically Trout. I have the chance to trade V. Martinez at $3 for Haren and Wieters who are both mid $20′s. It’s an AL only 10 team auction keeper league. Do I pursue the deal do I hang tight and hope V. Mart comes back and helps late in the season? Thanks as always.
Tom

Ryan – Offered Tex\Pence\Marcum for my Cargo\Lohse\CCrawford.
Lohse is certainly solid, but I dont see any difference with Marcum who gets a few more K’s.
Cargo all day over Tex.
Pence over Crawford.
You can do this deal since you are getting three rock stable guys back. The key is Crawford. If he is who he has always been you lose. Given that not likely to be the case, doing the deal makes a lot of sense.

Luke – Big fan of Michael Young, and I wrote about him today in a piece:
http://fantasyalarm.com/rounding-the-bases-sample-size-and-what-it-means/
At this point though, should also be pointed out that:
Murphy is hitting .420 in his last 50 ABs.
Alvarez has more homer and RBI than Aviles, and just three less runs.
Headley is the best fantasy performer to this point out of Headley, Aviles, Alvarez.
By Ray Flowers on Jul 11, 2012
Tom – You got it.
If Vmart comes back, its likely only in Sept. He’s a GREAT keeper value at $3, but if you’re trying to win this year taken Haren and Wieters is the slam dunk move to make even if they don’t end up being kept.

Ray. You were right. Despite the “history” of first half, Boesch sucked the first half. Samardzija did tantalize but ultimately was too inconsistent. This game is so twisty turvy sometimes. Two, Three months mid-season pass and whoa look at that … Fiers and McDonald and R.A.Dickey and trevor plouffe show up to save the day.
I think McDonald and Plouffe at least should be added to that list.
It’s why I love this game.
By Ray Flowers on Jul 12, 2012
Napster – Could have easily added McDonald and Plouffe. Just didn’t want to bore everyone with having to look at my face for hours.
Baseball is always interesting…
