I have Lance Berkman still sitting on my DL while my replacements Anthony Rizzo and Freddie Freeman are playing great. ROTW how would you rank these three first sackers? Thanks for all your help.
By Ray Flowers on Jul 18, 2012
Tyler – Berkman isn’t healthy. Leave him on your DL for now. He even admitted that his bat speed isn’t there. Freeman is the top dog here with Rizzo/Berkman a bit behind.

As a replacement for Bautista (position not an issue), how would you rank Joyce, Brantley, Maybin, Colvin and LaRoche? Thanks as always.

Ray, I need your help again please. 9 team NL only auction keeper 23/260 with 12 man reserve squads. I was dominant early before injuries to Panda, Werth and Ramos. I’m in 2nd with a chance to win this year, and I’m still pretty loaded for next year. We can keep 11, and I have Strasburg 9, Wainwright 8, Kershaw 32, T Hudson 5, Cueto 15, Ramos 3, Rosario 1, Stanton 20, Bruce 24, Castro 10, Hanley 31, Werth 21, Scutaro 1, Parra 1.
I already traded a $5 Campana for expiring Prado. Another team has offered me an expiring Gallardo, Latos 19 and an expiring Posey for Rosario 1 and Cueto 15, both of who mhave 2 years left at that salary.
I have to pull the trigger there, right? Latos pretty much = to Cueto for only $4 more, and I get Gallardo and Posey for a cheap Rosario. I feel like I’m overthinking this but I need an expert to set me straight. As always, thank you for your help.

Hey Ray – I realize Werth is still pretty unknown at this point, but would you advise picking up if he’s been dropped in a shallow (10-tm) league? I would have to drop either Lorenzo Cain or Jared Burton to do so. My OF is full (CarGo, JUpton, Bonifacio, De Aza, Swisher, Cain) and I have solid RPs before Burton (Putz, Clippard, Janssen, Reed). Votto’s on my DL so Werth would take a bench spot. Leave him to someone else or make a move? cheers!

Greg – With Capps likely to miss a substantial amount of time with shoulder woes, it’s hard to suggest dropping Burton. I’m also hesitant to add an injured player in a 10 tm lg. I’m all for adding Werth, but give the shallow nature of your lg, I certainly don’t think it is something you have to do.
By Ray Flowers on Jul 19, 2012
Fish – If you are looking to win in an NL only lg, and you can add Gallardo, Latos and Posey, there is just no way you can say no. I’d worry about next year next year. I play to win this year. You haev to look to the future for sure, but this is just too much talent to pass on.

Nick – Joyce is back, but not at full strength. Maybin still having trouble hitting. Colvin hot of late, but doesn’t have skills to sustain it. LaRoche is a strong run producer.
I’d add Brantley who has been hot, and has a nice overall game. If Joyce was fully healthy, I’d be interested.

Trade offer sabathia gallardo and ichiro for jweaver cj wilson and carlos santana. Which side wins?7
By Ray Flowers on Jul 25, 2012
Joe – sabathia/gallardo/ichiro for jweaver/cj wilson/carlos santana
Pitching side, second set with Weaver/Wilson.
In a two C league, would obviously rather have Carlos.
Even in a one C lg, Santana likely to be an upgrade at C.
Go with second side.
