Evening Ray – Crisp or L. Cain as 5th OF rest of this year assuming health? I think Crisp will steal more but my league counts OPS and I feel like Cain’s got a bit more pop. Whatchoo think? Also – am I right that ian Kennedy is now borderline ownable in 10-team? When would you start him? Thanks!!

John – Cain certainly has more pop, but you are also correct about Crisp having the big SB advantage. Neither guy figures to do much in OPS, but I’d go with Crisp who has been hitting .324 with 9 SBs last 27 games as the hot hitter of the duo.

Ray F – You okay with trading De Aza for Vogelsong if I need QS rest of this season? Would leave my OF as JUpton, CarGo, Victorino, Bonifacio, Crisp, Swisher. You think Vogel keeps chucking QS most of the time for the rest of the way? Thanks! 10-tem w/ OPS, QS, K/9 and I’m leading K/9.

Greg – De Aza for Vogelsong, in a QS lg, looks totally fine to me. All Ryan V does it post quality starts, and those ratios are pretty impressive even if I can’t totally explain them based on his skills set.

    Hi Ray,
Please help settle a league argument. Manager 1 wants to trade Storen, Lawrie, and Reddick for McCutchen. Manager 2 would then drop Alexei Ramirez. 12 team roto league, mgr 1 is in first and mgr 2 is in 11th. Fair or no? Veto or no? It’s a money league. This argument has been going on for days.

Regina – Team 1 gives Storen/Lawrie/Reddick /// Team 2 gives McCutchen and drop Alexei Ramirez.

Storen is a middle reliever who will get a few save chances here and there.
    Lawrie on the DL.
Reddick since AllStar hitting .216 with. 672 OPS.

I dont like it at all. If Lawrie was healthy it would be totally fine, but with him likely out for all of August, and Storen just a MR, the McCutchen side is certainly winning this one… unless it’s a keeper lg in which case it’s a great haul of three players.

Thanks Ray, that was my argument too! Manager 1 insists it’s a fair trade that will help both teams, and that the Reddick side actually comes out ahead. Nope!

Ray, what’s the long term value of James McDonald and Kris Medlen? I’m in a dynasty auction based league where keepers are considered under contract and can only be dropped at the expense of a salary cap hit. I got burned last off-season by Collmenter (who I had to drop) and some what by Masterson who I’m still stuck with. Both McDonald and Medlen would cost only $3 next season but I’m affraid they may become fantasy irrelevant like Colmenter did and Masterson may.

Tony – Collmenter can’t hold the others jocks when it comes to talent. He’s nowhere close. Not a surprise at all that he failed this year (I had Collmenter ranked 125th out of SPs in my preseason Guide).

Gotta keep both McC and Medlen.

McD has slumped, but overall he has still been very impressive, and that arm alone would be worth $3 even w/o the impressive work.

Medlen needs to start. Now it’s a fair question if the Braves will given him a rotation spot to start next season, but I think it’s certainly worth the risk, especially if he continues to impress down the streth.

Damn, I can’t seem to guess right on McD. He was so steady over the first half and now he only pitches well on my bench.
