Britton,Estrada,Iwakuma, any of these 3 good pickups?

    Ray,

Who is the better flex play in week 1: Kevin Smith, Malcolm Floyd, or Heyward-Bey?

Also, would you suggest grabbing Leshoure off waivers as insurance for Kevin Smith? I would have to cut my back up TE Kyle Rudolph

  3. By randy on Sep 6, 2012

what are your thoughts on ogletree no one took him in my nffc league, football is different than baseball in my mind baseball is long and you have to have patience but football you go big on a free agent early and dont pass on someone big or could be big so what are your thoughts——-thanks

  4. By Ray Flowers on Sep 6, 2012

Scott – All depends on who you drop. All three pitchers have value.

  5. By Ray Flowers on Sep 6, 2012

Jon – Smith best flex play.

Who is your starting TE? I have Rudolph as my #10 TE, so I’m not in love with the idea of dropping him.

Randy – Ogeltree was my choice for the Cowboys #3 WR this year. Still, his breakout will not be sustained. With Bryant, Austin and Witten (when healthy), he’ll be no better than the 4th option on most plays. Can be added with the hope he becomes a major player, but one game doesn’t make a guy a star.

Who is the better RB2 in week one Greene or Gerhart – 12 team non-ppr standard scoring

  8. By Ray Flowers on Sep 6, 2012

    Pablo – Gerhart

Hey Ray, I know its a little early but I wanted to get you opinion on some keepers. I have to keep 4 for next year. My current roster is Rosario, Dunn, Phillips, Frazier, E.Andrus, Bourn, Morse, Hart, Cruz, Jeter, Rios, Holliday, Altuve,Ortiz. Pitchers Peavy, Samardzjia, Hanson, Medlen, Lohse, Sheilds, Kendrick, Rodney. Thanks for all the help this year.

Vince – I wrote about Andrus, Morse here – http://baseballguys.com/category/mailbag/

    1 Holliday
    2 Rios
    3 Andrus
    4 Bourn

If you do this, be cure you load up on power cause you will have two guys who won’t help you at all in the HR/RBI cats.

    Ray,

To answer your question: Jermichael Finley is my primary TE, and my other RB’s in addition to Smith are Ray Rice, Ryan Matthews, Doug Martin, and Ryan Williams.

    Thanks,
    Jon

This is my situation with Britton,Estrada,Iwakuma. I was thinking about dropping Peavy for Britton? I was trying to decide between Morrow,Estrada,Iwakuma for the other pitching spot.I own Morrow. Estrada got beat today.Britton,at home, should beat Garcia on Sunday. Iwakuma will having a tougher time with Anderson Saturday, but has home field anyways.Estrada or Iwakuma may be a replacement for Strasburg….who I own….when Strasburg gets shut down also…if I keep Morrow. What do you think?

Jonathan – would you suggest grabbing Leshoure off waivers as insurance for Kevin Smith? I would have to cut my back up TE Kyle Rudolph

Finley is a nice option at TE. Like that alot.
Rice, Mathews, Martin, Kevin Smith and Ryan Williams.

No need to add LeShoure, he’s no better than any of the guys you have.

  14. By Ray Flowers on Sep 6, 2012

Scott – I’d keep Morrow, best skills of pitchers you mentioned. Britton has been impressive, but I hate that division. I’d rather take Iwakuma who has been pitching great since ASB, and has a strong home ballyard to pitch in.

Ray, I have 2 questions which pitching matchup would u pick out of the 3 gallardo vs st louis, villanueva vs boston, or wilson vs det? Also I have j.p. arencibia coming off the dl on friday do I start him and drop lucroy or do I start them both and drop infante or aviles?

  16. By Zachary on Sep 7, 2012

Do you think Britt and Broyles do better than Floyd and Blackmon this year? David Wilson, Jennings or LeShoure or Ryan Williams? Non-PPR, 6 Points Passing System

  17. By Ray Flowers on Sep 7, 2012

Zachary – You should have got a copy of my Draft Guide. It answers your questions as I ranked like 300 players. http://baseballguys.com/category/nfl-nhl/

I’m highest on Britt and Wilson.

  18. By Ray Flowers on Sep 7, 2012

Matt K – At this point, I’d keep rolling with Lucroy. You only add JPA over him if you are desperate for HRs.

As for pitching – Gallardo gets murdered by Cards: 1-9, 7.05 ERA in 13 starts.
Wilson has pitched better of late but 2nd half has been rough.
That leaves Villa who has pitched very well minus the one hiccup.

  19. By mary on Sep 7, 2012

Do you tried to avoid baseball games where you own both pitchers playing against each other? I own Anderson and Iwakuma for Saturday’s game and I didn’t know if I should avoid starting both or if there’s an advantage to playing both?

  20. By Ray Flowers on Sep 7, 2012

Mary – I dont believe in H2H in baseball. I detest it. See – http://baseballguys.com/2011/09/21/mailbag-september-21-2011/

Therefore, I never worry about pitchers facing each other other cause I’m concerned about 162 games, not seven days. Plus, there is no way to predict wins and loses anyway.
