Fantasy Beat – Running Backs & More

Trevor Ray and Justin Fensterman discuss some basic strategies to help you win a championship. They also discuss some disappointments so far like Darren McFadden and Chris Johnson. They also give their thoughts on Alex Green and his shot in Green Bay.
What’s up with the Lions? Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson, Jahvid Best, Mikel LeShoure, Joique Bell and Kevin, Smith.

Ray,
Wide Receiver question in a 0.5 PPR: Need one of these three: Malcolm Floyd, Maclin, or Denarius Moore?
Thanks!
By Ray Flowers on Oct 14, 2012
Jon – All are solid WR3′s this Week. Go with Maclin.

Matt W – If you have start/sit #NFL questions, send them to me, 10a-1p EDT, at @SiriusXMFantasy – only way to get my answer Sundays.

HI Ray, I started off 3-0 and now will be 3-3. I feel like I have a bunch of under achievers. 6 pts td, 1 pt PPR. I have Brees, M floyd, D Thomas, T Smith, M Lynch, C Johnson, A Gates. Bench is G Jennings, M Bush, B Tate, D Brown, K Wright, M Bennet and R Fitpatrick. Not sure where I need help but I know I do. Should I try to trade brees to upgrade my WR and RB? Just dont know what to do. I am scoring the least amount of points in the league.

Vince – Often times you lose in fantasy football based on the matchup. You score 145 pts which is 2nd in your lg, but you face the guys who scores 147. One week you get 98pts, the next 152. It’s just the nature of the game and why I always argue for total pts vs only h2h.
Aces at QB
RB Need depth here, but your top2 are solid.
WR When Jennings in healthy, another solid unit.
I expect Gates to start the turnaround tonight.
If you deal Brees, all depends who you can get back of course…

Long time since I posted as i finished 2nd in baseball thanks to your thoughtful advice this year. I will be a willing donor for the forseeable future.
I am in a 12 team .5 pt ppr and my team is floundering at 2-4
i drafted Arian Foster, Stafford, Fitzgerald as my 1-2-3. I was just offered
Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, Steve Smith (car) and Steven Jackson for Foster, Stafford, Fitz and Janikowski.
My new lineup would be Ryan, Steve Jackson, Benjarvus Green Ellis, Julio Jones, Brandon Lloyd, Steve Smith, Dennis Pitta, Zurlein and Dallas or Minn D
Do I make that deal? I have little or no depth on my bench. Nate Washington, Andrew Hawkings (possibly Josh Gordon this week) Coby Fleener, Mark INgram, Javhid Best and Bilal Powell.

Ming – Glad you had a strong finish in baseball.
As I suggested hundreds of times in the preseason, I think drafting a QB in the first couple of rounds is a mistake. Been proven right so far there. With Stafford underwhelming, it’s no surprise your team is underperforming.
Ryan better than Stafford
Jones better than Fitz
Smith worse than Foster
SJax better than Janikowski
You lose your kicker, but big whoop. It’s a win for you. However…
you CANT do it. There is no way you can win your lg with SJax/BJGE/Best/Ingram as your runners. Just can’t. Hate to belabor the point, but by passing on RB in rd2 and taking Stafford, you left yourself in a hole in which you simply cannot deal Foster unless you get an RB1 back.

Ray,
This start/sit question is giving me fits this week(non-ppr): Felix Jones or Ahmad Bradshaw?
Much appreciated.
By Ray Flowers on Oct 19, 2012
Michael – Go Felix Jones. Bradshaw didn’t practice Friday, and while he is expected to play, there is just too much uncertainty surrounding Ahmad right now.
